When did you start with your social media blog?
I started my Instagram blogging around 4-5 years ago.
What has been the highlight of your career as a blogger so far?
The highlight of my career as a blogger so far has been being able to inspire others which I had no clue until my followers were commenting and sending me private messages. It is an amazing feeling to know that I am an inspiration to other people’s lives!
Who are your fashion and beauty inspirations?
"Dina Tokio" and "Habiba de Silva"
They inspired me to be fashionable and modest at the same time and never give up on what you do. To be who you are and represent yourself as a good and truthful person and not the opposite.
What difficulties do you face being a new blogger?
You get the few people who like to leave hate comments and messages but I take it on the chin to allow myself to be a better make-up artist and a fashionable person. I know that not everyone would be fond of the makeup I do but I carry on pushing myself to be better.
Who is your favourite designer?
My favourite designer is "Inayah" as I absolutely love their clothing and hijabs. I love their designs which are so trendy and versatile. They use models of all diversities which shows that they promote modesty through all backgrounds.
What is your favourite trend of the moment?
I love wearing oversized tops and skinny jeans or black trousers. Oversized tops give me better coverage whilst being trendy.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporter is my husband and my family. They pushed me through the bumpy journey I had becoming a makeup artist and blogger. I don't think it would have had the confidence to do anything without their help. It has enabled me to become a more skilled and confident make-up artist. Another big supporter of my Instagram page is Vegas_Nay who shouted out one of my dramatic eye makeup styles which gave me a big boost to my followers. This is where I believe my career actually began. I am really grateful for this.
How do you set yourself apart from other bloggers?
I believe what makes me different than other bloggers is being a self-taught makeup artist rather than being taught by a professional. I believe originality and initiative creates a better image of an artist. I strongly encourage others to be niche and distinctive as it helps you to stand out in front of others. I have been modelling for modest fashion companies where I helped build their brand but also enabled me to be more noticed by the Instagram community.
What is your aim in creating this Instagram page?
The aim of my Instagram page was to showcase my talent, have people follow me and notice my makeup as my own. I also aimed to build my cliental. I have a client base of a variety of people from different backgrounds which has allowed me to work with all different skin tones. I also aim to support other make-up artists who want to start up or have already started up by promoting them on my page.
What does modesty mean to you?
Modesty to me symbolises self-preservation and respect. Modesty is also the way you act towards others by being humble and avoiding being arrogant and disrespectful. Modesty to me means a lot, it is an attractive quality that’s draws the hearts of others and attracts admiration with the result of allowing others to also be modest as well. I believe modesty is a beautiful quality to have within yourself as it says in Islam that Modesty is regarded as half of faith.
What piece of advice would you give to your followers?
My advice to followers is to be yourself, be confident and never to give up on their dreams. Never to feel down and be grateful with what you have as others may not. Be humble, happy and positive!
What can we expect from you in the future?
I want to have my own makeup brand in the future, I was hopeful enough to have my own business but having my own branded products is my target.
